FIRESIDE CHAT: TIM WALSH, TOWNSEND COMPANY
"NO MORE TRIR"...WHY THE STANDARD SAFETY METRIC IS FLAWED
The metric every safety program lives and dies by may be the wrong one. Tim Walsh, VP of Safety and Training at Townsend Company, makes the case that TRIR is mathematically broken — and quietly incentivizing crews to hide injuries.
Tim brings receipts from a 3.2 trillion-hour EEI study and his own work with federal OSHA on what should replace it.
- Why a stitch and a fatality count the same under TRIR
- The shift toward SIFs (Serious Injuries and Fatalities) as the better signal
FIRESIDE CHAT: MARK RIEDER, NFP
THE FUTURE OF BROKERAGE...BEYOND THE 3-RING BINDER
The insurance industry has worn the "laggard" label for years. Mark Rieder, Head of Innovation at NFP, thinks the brokers who modernize their data first will own the next decade of client relationships.
Mark sits down with David Wald on the end of static stewardship reports, why "if you don't have a data strategy, you don't have an AI strategy," and the new Aclaimant + NFP Connect partnership.
- Why agentic AI is rewriting what insurance buyers expect
- Aclaimant joins NFP Connect as a preferred RMIS provider

CHAMPION SPOTLIGHT: BARB NEITMAN, TRILLIUM STAFFING...PUTTING PEOPLE FIRST
When Trillium opened a new Injury Counselor role in 2020, Barb Neitman raised her hand from inside the company. Six years later, she's our latest Aclaimant Champion — and she spends her days alongside injured employees, walking them through recovery.
Her favorite part of the platform? It stays out of her way. No double entry, claims submitted seamlessly, every piece of a person's story in one place.
- A human-first approach to occupational injury
- How a clean RMIS workflow gives counselors their time back

ON-DEMAND WEBINAR: TCOR, ALLOCATIONS & DATA EXPLORER...THE NEW RELEASES ARE LIVE
We previewed them in April. Now they're shipped. Tom Wimberly and David Wald walk through the three releases reshaping how risk teams budget, allocate, and analyze in 2026.
TCOR centralizes Total Cost of Risk. Allocations distributes costs based on real risk drivers. Data Explorer (complimentary) adds AI-generated insights on top of every record.
- TCOR + Allocations: a defensible cost model without spreadsheets
- Data Explorer: AI insights and rapid exploration, no SQL required
FROM DAVID'S DESK: RISKWORLD 2026 ... FIVE SIGNALS RESHAPING RISK MANAGEMENT
Four days in Philadelphia, ~11,000 risk professionals, and one conclusion: the gap between what risk managers expect and what the industry can deliver is the widest it's been in David's career.
The five signals he took home:
- Expectations have outrun the industry. Buyers expect a speed and service standard carriers, brokers, and TPAs aren't reliably built to deliver.
- AI in claims is past hype — for a few. The question moved from "should we adopt?" to "what's our governance model when AI makes the wrong call?"
- Volatility is structural. Average plaintiff verdicts hit $16.2M in 2024 — a 276% jump from 2019 (Lex Machina).
- Adam Grant nailed the keynote. The leaders who win the next decade will treat assumptions like hypotheses, not conclusions.
- The RIMS community is reorganizing. Strongest floor energy in years — practitioners are problem-solving in public again.

ONE LAST THOUGHT…
The organizations winning at risk management aren't the ones with the most data. They're the ones doing something with it.
That's what we're here to help you do.
