How to Utilize Filters on Your Dashboard(s):
1. Select the dashboard in which you'd like to start filtering your data.
2. Select the Filters button on the right hand side of your screen.
3. Select the appropriate filter(s) that you are looking to capture. In this example, we will be looking at "Incidents Date of Incident" within the last year. As a user, you have the ability to add multiple filters, if desired, continue to add additional filters by selecting "+ Add Filter". Your filter options may vary depending on your configuration.
4. As you apply filter(s) to the dashboard, you will notice that the applicable widgets update upon selection of filters. If this is a filter that you will be utilizing in the future, you can select "Save filter". This will allow you to have personalized static filters that can be defaulted upon entering this specific analytics dashboard (see below for further details on this).
About Filters:
Static Filters:
Static filters are set at a dashboard level and can be mapped to specific widgets, allowing for a more tailored data view. To set static filters on your dashboard, the appropriate permissions within your role are necessary.
Relative Date Filtering:
When adding a filter to a widget that is a ‘date range’ you have the option of using relative dates as opposed to a date range picker. This control (which is the same as the one used in the Static Filters feature), it has several options for relative dates in it but also allows free typing many more! This gives you the ability to setup a widget can be filtered “over the last year” or “this year” without the needing to update the filter at the start of the calendar year.
Utilizing Default and Personalized Filters:
Each user can save their filter configuration so the next time they navigate to the dashboard, the saved filters will automatically be applied. The filters are saved locally on your device; i.e. if you log into your Aclaimant account on a different device, your filters will not be available. It works like cookies in your browser. Now that each user is in control of what filters you apply, you need a way to assert AND or OR logic across the filters. The default condition is AND, but you can click on it and change it to OR.
Users can also set a default filter for a dashboard. Note that this is different than users specifying filters for their own personal use. A dashboard’s default filter will automatically apply filters to a dashboard in conjunction to if a user does not have their own personal filters configured for that dashboard.
